Malika Favre x Iriarte Iriarte

Gee-Gee Noun (informal British) in children’s use or in racehorse betting horse.

For this collaboration, we asked Malika to revisit one of our iconic models, the “Small Book” bag.

Its evocative shape gave Malika the idea to approach the project as if she was designing a cover. She considers the book to be a cherished travel companion and a symbol of freedom and movement, qualities which she felt were best represented by an elegant horse.

The illustration was then embossed into the cover as well as discreetly hand printed on the inside lining, having as a result a very limited edition of hand numbered bags.

Malika Favre is a French illustrator based in Barcelona. Her bold, minimal style is a striking lesson in the use of positive/ negative space and colour. Her work always springs from a strong narrative core and is intended to provoke the imagination – with a bit of humour, a touch of sexiness, and a re-imagination of the ordinary.

The governing principle in all of Malika’s work is ‘less is more.’ Since then, her unmistakable style has established her as one of Europe’s most sought after graphic artists. Malika’s clients include The New Yorker, Montreux Jazz festival and Vogue, amongst many others.
